Our ancestors had food that was much more nutritional than us, but wait that doesn’t make any sense, we have evolved, so much has happened, we live so much longer and western medicine is amazing, and the list goes on. However, it's true that years ago when many were farmers, or people went to farmers' markets and if you or a neighbor didn’t grow it, you didn’t eat it, the food was much cleaner and had higher nutritional value.
This is due to the fact that…
Farmers did not spray chemicals on their food that our bodies do not like, washing the food with water does not omit the chemicals absorbed by the foods.
Farmers picked the food when it was ripe and ate it, soon after it was picked, therefore getting the most nutrients at the foods highest peak. Food today is picked early then allowed to ripen in trucks, and storage shelves, this lessens the nutritional value of the food.
Basically, as our world became more and more industrialized our food became less and less nutrient dense. Did you know…
Some of our foods today contain GMO ingredients meaning genetically modified ingredients. You cannot grow these ingredients organically, they are chemically modified “foods” that simulate a certain taste.
It even goes bigger than just foods, some of our beauty products, lotions, body wash and even unfiltered water can contain carcinogens…just a small amount…that’s ok right? Wrong, what is not said is what if you are using multiple products with a small amount of carcinogens…how much do you consume or absorb through our skin until it causes cancer?
Have you ever heard you eat what you eat eats….
When an animal is fed add hormones, preservatives, steroids, and antibiotics, to name a few, its meat and organs have all of those additives in there, it doesn't just go away. When you eat that meat, it is transferring to you as well. Therefore, you are consuming extra hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and whatever else they are feeding the animals. Ever wonder why puberty in kids started getting earlier than in our ancestors? I’m not blaming anyone or any companies for this, it is just something I wonder about.
Sad fact…animals that are raised this way are given antibiotics because they are kept in such tight, small spaces that bacteria and illness can spread amongst them (cattle, chickens, fish…all of them)
This same idea goes for pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides that are sprayed on our plants, fruits, and vegetables. They may not have mouths to physically eat something but they take in water, sunlight and nutrients to help them grow and ripen. When they are sprayed with these chemicals, the plant, fruit or vegetable absorbs this chemical and it becomes part of the plants DNA. There fore when you eat said plant, fruit or vegetable, washing it with a little water does not get omit the chemicals already absorbed.
Today, I use the general rule if I look at the ingredients on the packaging and I cannot pronounce half the words on there…its probably not good for you!
